Ask the Expert

My pony is ridden a couple of eves a week and both days at the weekend. I have found he is getting very sweaty and was considering clipping him? I am unsure on the type of clip to give? He is field kept with a field shelter, thanks Zoe

Hi Zoe

It really depends on the length of exercise and the type of rug that you use. I would clip as little as possible on a field kept pony. So perhaps start with a bib clip and see how that goes. If you find your pony is still sweating to much then the next would be a trace clip (again leave as much on as possible). I hope that this helps
