pony of the week

i was crowned pony of the week on 8/3/10.

thanks to everyone who voted. although lots of food would have been good enough :P

its getting darker :(

means no more field time very soon, especially if it gets really muddy.

im getting really wooly now, so the clippers will show up soon. i dont mind it and i get more rugs, but then Hannah warms her hands up under my rugs when im wearing them and her hands are freezing! but i like it in a way coz Hannah spends loads of time with me. what i dont like is the whole take-the-rugs-off-while-it-is-freezing thing, just to groom me and then make me work in the cold. but  if the school gets frozen it means less work :D

it also means that the pony club mini hunter trials training will be at the yard, so i will have to work on a monday and Hannah will probably get in a routine and her and her mum will be riding in the evenings to get me fitter coz in the summer they get really busy, especially now Hannah's in year 11, which means loads of exams and revising (yeah, right) and less time with me :( (what are exams anyway???- im being serious, im a pony-how am i supposed to know?)

on the plus side, i am being fed competition mix and oats so i will have more energy :P it doesnt mean that i will actually want to work lol.

malvern-NPS summer champs

4/8/09

mud every where. we had temporary stables, but the nice ones, so they were'nt flappy and scary. they were on really long grass (YUM!!) was ridden around the showground-there were LOADS of really scary bins everywhere!

5/8/09

nearly missed the first class because some idiot brought it forward which meant i got my tack thrown on me and got trotted down to the ring without a warm up. the upside was that we were in the final 10 that go through to the evening performance, the downside was-more work, when i should have been sleeping.

i couldnt be bothered to work properly in the second junior ridden, so we were'nt placed, but i was saving my energy for the evening performance (wink wink, nudge nudge!)

evening performance was good. i did my flashy trot and we ended up 8th out of the original 18. the only scary thing was the flower pots we had to go through at the end (the winner stands between them when the rosettes are being presented).

6/8/09

working hunter class.

i jumped a really big practice fence and then whent into the ring. i went to jump the first fence, which was a spread, and i noticed at the last minute that they put trees between the two sets of wings, so i stopped and put my head down to look at them and skipped sideways, and this made me drop my shoulder slightly and because Hannah was ready to jump, she went flying over my head and into the jump, which i wasnt expecting so i spooked at her and her left foot caught in the stirrup slightly as i moved (and she has oly just recovered from a torn ligament in that foot), but her foot was released. i then looked around and saw Ed (a welsh section D AKA Broughton Envoy) behind me so i cantered off towards him because i knew i was in trouble. Hannah had scuffed her knees, bruised her hip and her arms slightly and twisted her left ankle and pulled a muscle in her right side, she was able to walk though, which is good and was also wearing a body protector so she wasnt as hurt as she could have been.

standing tied up to the lorry by myself is pretty boring, and Ed wasnt there to keep me company so i started whinnying quite loadly, hoping for a reply i got one from a mare and i was thinking "iz young. iz pulled"

7/8/09

was made to jump the practice fences before going home. they were small and plain, so obviously i jumped them no problem ;)

got home and got chucked into the field. by myself for once because Toffee was lame. and i rolled and rolled-being kept clean and in a stable for 5 days when i shold be outside eating grass i not my idea of fun.

8/8/09

i got until wednesday off

lots of rolling in the mud planned for these days

;)

jumping
27/7/09 was made to jump flower pots, blue show jumping blocks and a filler with ponies all over it. it was rather scary and the fences went up huge (around 2 foot 9, which is biggest that hannah has jumped on me and i didnt think she would do it, but she did. i bet they bring out the flower pots again before the NPS summer champs in august, where we are doing a workers class. it will be scary because there will be trees and fillers and planks that might eat me, but i will be made to jump them and then it wont be so bad after i've jumped that fence, until im made to jump something similar at home and it will be different and scary all over again. jumping isnt as boring as flat work though, which is pretty much all i have done for the past few years. the flat work is getting worse though because Hannah has been put on the short course for GCSE PE and has chosen horseriding and has to do turn on the forehand, pirouette and rein back and lateral movements like leg yield. i can do turn on the forehand, because Flint could do it and that means Hannah knows how to ask for it and it was easy to understand, reinback i can do (Hannah taught me to move backwards to the sound of her voice in the stable and it isnt too hard anyway, but i get annoyed after a few steps so i throw my head up and stop), leg yield isnt too bad either because Hannah was taught how to ask for it at PC hunter trials training. pirouette i definately cant do, but i think Hannah will ask vicky to help her teach it to me or Vicky will teach me herself, which i dont want to happen because Vicky makes me work and i cant think about what i am asked to do, i have to do it because Vicky is a strong rider and doesnt let m get away with anything, Hannah doesnt either but when she gets tired i decide that its the perfect time to muck about because i will get away with it. Hannah's mum, Denise, lets me get away with alot, but when she rides in spurs and really makes me work for 20 minutes solid she doesnt let me get away with anything. weather doesnt look too good, but if it rains it means more mud to roll in! which also means i will have a longer grooming session, which i like because thats what humans are for. i like grinding the mud into my head, which means i get my ear and forehead sctratched when i'm groomed, which is where no horse can reach when you want to give each other a good scratch because you are bored and cant reach an itch. ;)
